We have just enough time left in our growing season to pull off another crop of potatoes, and if all goes right, we'll have twice what we got in our last dig!
Our layers are nice and fluffy and will slowly pack down as it rains, and as the potatoes grow, we will add more straw and potting soil to the top.

Potatoes are one of the easiest and cheapest vegetable you can grow. I've had great success over the years growing all of mine (including main crop) in 20L pots. Just an update as to what ive been up to. Just a run of the mill video but hopefully I will have some good news to share soon. Your prayers are helpikg so thank you.

Today, we're starting a new series -- a Bible overview, using the right and left sides of our brain. Yes, we're coloring (using the right side of our brains) while we talk about (using the left side of our brains) the Bible story, how it relates to other parts of Scripture, and how it relates to our lives and our world. The Bible stories are important for us so that we can understand the rest of the Bible and know how to live our lives for Christ. This one was a bit long. I may go ahead and do some of the coloring ahead of time or something so that it's not so long in the future. Tell me what you think. We were reading Genesis 1 in this video.

This is the final ten days of a longer project, but stands well on its own, as we talked about emptying ourselves in preparation for the Day of Pentecost. In this series, we prepare to recommit ourselves to the filling of the Holy Spirit. In order to be filled, we must first be emptied. I love having Bill tell stories about the history of Chester River Knitting Company. We wanted to share some of these with you. Here he begins telling about his and Beth's involvement with Cambodians when Chester River Knitting Company was Patterncraft. As many of you know, my late husband, Bill Ruckelshaus, knitted sweaters on vintage hand-operated knitting machines for over 40 years. His sweaters were sought by people all over the world who appreciated his quality and the longevity of his sweaters. He used natural fibers such as wool, cotton, linen, camel hair, alpaca, and silk, as well as many others. He knit classic styles which would be appropriate for years and could be made trendy with accessories. Tragically, he was killed in an accident on his way to Maryland on July 14, 2019. I've created a Facebook group in which you can learn about his sweaters, the art which may possibly have gone to his grave with him, more about this wonderful man (I'm not at all biased), and have the opportunity to purchase some of his sweaters, if you'd like. You've probably heard me making the sign of the cross if you pray the chaplet with me (or with anyone else, for that matter). The sign of the cross is used in so many areas of life! As I've incorporated this ritual into my life, it's actually changed me. Let me tell you what it means to me as a Protestant, how Catholics use it, how I've made it part of my life, and why it's become so meaningful to me. Then consider for yourself whether God would have you make this ancient Christian ritual a part of your own life.

Btw, about 6 months after making this video, I became Catholic, but when I made this video, I was still a Protestant.

Here's the video I made for you to pray the Chaplet along with me. I've written the chaplet up on cards, so you can easily follow along. If you're new to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, I think you'll find this very helpful. In this video, I demonstrate the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and say it slowly enough for you to follow. I don't give any explanation in this video so that you can use it over and over for your daily prayers. I'll have explanatory videos in the future, from the viewpoint of a Protestant. My personal experience with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy began after the death of my husband in a car crash a little over a year ago. This quickly became one of my lifelines and continues to help me get through this difficult time. At the time of this recording, I started almost every day with it ... often at 4:30 a.m. before I started teaching online. I mention the time only to demonstrate how important this has become to me, worth getting up a little earlier to do ... and I hope that it will become that important to you as well.

The Chaplet takes about 10 minutes if you go straight through it, as I do here. I often dedicate each decade to a different prayer request (or intention, in Catholic terms). (A decade is one of the groups of ten beads.) Note that if you're Protestant and uncomfortable with the single Hail Mary recited during this prayer, you might substitute "Come, Holy Spirit" at that time or even pray in the Spirit. I'll explain in depth in a later video why I believe the Hail Mary is a great prayer to recite, but spoiler: You're not "praying" to Mary in the sense of praying to God. It's heresy to worship Mary or anyone who isn't God. According to the dictionary, "to pray" is to ask, beseech, request. You are asking Mary to intercede for you. Again, we'll talk about this more in a later video.

Since you can't see me cross myself (at the beginning and end of the Chaplet): With your hand, finger, or crucifix, touch your forehead ("In the name of the Father"), then your chest ("and of the Son"), your left shoulder ("and of the Holy Spirit"), and then your right shoulder ("Amen").


Also note that, while I have "leader" and "response" in my written text cards for praying with someone else (or even if you want to use my recording as a leader and do the responses yourself), if you're praying alone, you can say all the parts. There's something very powerful and special, though, about praying with someone else, even a recording. I'd love it if you let me know if you use my recording that way. As a widow, it would mean a lot to know that there are others praying with me.


If you don't have a rosary, God gave you the perfect tool: your fingers! Your ten fingers will help you count a decade. When I'm without a rosary, I move my wedding ring along the fingers of one hand to keep track of the five decades.

I do hope this is helpful. I've come to love this prayer so much! My understanding is that it's responsible for a grass-roots revival within Roman Catholicism in recent years. I asked Melodi about how she made these pages. This is what she wrote: "The images are vintage botanical drawings. The background is ecodyed paper, I grabbed foliage on my beach retreat and came home and boiled it with the paper then dried it, scanned it in and voila!It’s awesome because it’s unique💗" I agree!!

What's a design team (DT)? That's just a group of people who have been given a work by an artist and asked to "do their thing" with it, to help others imagine how they might be able to use it. It's always fun and inspiring to look at the various design team videos. You can see how one kit can be used completely differently by various people and each person adds their own personality to it, along with items from their already existing stash.

I'm working on a separate series for new junk journalers, and will show you in that series how I gather extra images from various places, work on these things on Canva, make easier changes on GoogleDocs, etc. This will be a separate series sometimes later. If you have particular questions about anything about junk journal creating, please feel free to write those below. That will give me time to plan for those questions in that series ... and get answers if I don't know.

We found the KEY! The key to tricking the virus.
I hope you can laugh at this . I hope that we can all just laugh and love each other.
Instead of having a big family feast, which would likely be a super-spreader event (because the people on TV told me so) we will circumvent the problems. As long as we are having a violent demonstration, the virus will not see a need to close us down.
Why worry about it? It's just that the virus likes mail in voting and blocking traffic. So let's get our family involved in some civil disobedience.
That's gotta be way better than questioning the media. Fact checkers are never wrong, right?

When Amen Loves Awoman – New Ways To Make Sense

How many ways can we add inclusive gender terms in our everyday lives? Do I need to trip a satire alert? Ok, this is satire, don’t shadow ban me, whatever that is.
Recently, a congressman prayed at the beginning of session. This now famous prayer ended with the ever-inclusive “Amen and Awoman.” Apparently this minister had no idea that this word, which means the same thing in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English, and more, has nothing to do with gender. If he did have an idea, apparently he wants it to have something to do with gender.

Since he is a politician, it must be important! Therefore, this precedent must continue. We must do all that we can to add “a woman” to any instances of this travesty. With such a simple fix, the world can certainly be a better place, don’t you think? In keeping with such a heroic moment, we must seek out more opportunities like this to signal our own virtue-icity.

To be completely fair:

The chewy candy, with the quirky commercials, known as mentos, must forthwith be referred to as mentos and womentos… Which when you think of it, actually I do not want to think about it. I’m just not a feet person.


To promote unity:

The salty, squiggly noodle treat of recent college grads known as Ramen noodles must Be here to considered Ramen and Ra-women noodles. Why are these sounding gross when you say them outloud?


As a signal of our utter inclusiveness:

The viral ailment of the spine and brain known as meningitis must, from this day on, be officially named menin and womeningitis.


I realize to less woke people, these type of efforts can be a pain in the neck, but it’s the least we can do to right (and left) a wrong.

To be all heroic and brave:

All future references to the chocolate treat that melts in your mouth and not in your hands, M&Ms, shall include the names M&M and M-women-M’s. Yes, we can do that with the rapper’s name as well.


As this is no laughing matter, we must all work together in this important use of our time and effort, to stamp out these instances of exclusivity. The people of history were simply not as enlightened as we are now, whether they meant and womeant to be or not.

Remember your family doctor? You know, like Dr. Chase in Miami? The guy that we would go to when something was not right? We knew him and his awesome staff. They knew us... called us by name. They didn't track us, or stalk us. They didn't threaten our livelihood or ask us to do stuff if we were healthy.
There were check-ups, there were treatments. He never told all his patients to do something because a few of them had a virus. I remember common sense health tips about washing hands and being careful.
Who would have thought we could essentially fire Dr. Case and go all the way up to a politician for our health advice? After all, who would know us better? Our neighborhood physician, or a man in an oval (or whatever shape) office?

This is a simple conversation with the Government Guy about some "one size fits all" treatment for a disease that not everyone has.
