This is Dr. Kevin Conners with a 60 Second Cancer Update from Conners Clinic, an Alternative Cancer Treatment center in St Paul, MN. Today we're going to talk about a study that just came out of the Finland/Switzerland area in Europe that showed the vulnerability of Glioblastoma and the Lysosomal membrane. Your lysosomes are little organelles inside of your cells, all of your cells have these, and they house bunch of digestive enzymes that, when released, help break down and recycle cellular components. They are the cleanup of the cell.
Well the thought was, if we could get these lysosomes to break down and thereby spill all their contents in the cell, they would effectively stimulate apoptosis and stimulate cell death. This study focused on that: "How can we weaken the lysosomal membrane." So what they did is they found that antihistamines, and in this case they used Clemastine which is an antihistamine that readily crosses the blood brain barrier because they were dealing with a brain cancer, but they found that antihistamines would break down that lysosomal barrier and spill its enzymes, all the digestive enzymes that are in lysosomes, would spill it into the cells and stimulate apoptosis thereby causing the cell to die.
So they felt that they could help kill cancer cells, glioblastoma cells which are one of the most aggressive brain cancers we have today, by using a simple over-the-counter antihistamine. Well the theory is is that we could use natural antihistamines as well! So using natural antihistamines, and I have multiple videos and blog posts on histamines and cancer not just with brain cancer but breast cancer and other cancers, that it's been proven that histamine is a stimulator to cancer because it protects that lysosomal barrier. By breaking down that barrier, we are in effect spilling digestive enzymes into the cell and causing the cell death. The interesting thing about this study is that healthy cells were protected. It didn't have that same effect on healthy cells. This is really cool, go read my blog about it called Histamine and Cancer. It's just another possible thing to add to your cancer protocol.

Nutritionist and genetic specialist Anne with Conners Clinic talks about acetylcholine. What is acetylcholine and why is it important? Acetylcholine is the most plentiful neurotransmitter in the human body. It's the neural transmitter that sends signals to our muscles so they can activate and move our bodies. And it's also a neural transmitter that is essential for brain health because of its involvement in thought, learning, and memory. It's so important for our brains that a deficit of Acetylcholine is linked to Alzheimer's disease. It's the neurotransmitter that actually tells the hippocampus to store a memory.

Acetylcholine is made in our neurons and the nutrient cholene is required for its production. You can get cholene in the foods that you eat, like eggs and meat, and your body can also make cholene by way of the PEMT gene. And there's two things that influenced the PEMT gene. First is estrogen, the hormone estrogen, and the second is variance in the PEMT gene. So estrogen is what's going to turn on the PEMT gene. And then variants in the PEMT make it so that the gene is not working to its full potential. So if you have low estrogen and/or variance in the PEMT gene and your body is not producing enough cholene, which then obviously can lead to low Acetylcholine production. I think it's also important to note that there are studies that show that high intake of cholene by pregnant women results in higher cognitive performance of the developing child for his or her entire life. And it really can reduce the risk of that child ever developing dementia later in life. So it's super important for pregnant women to take cholene for, obviously brain health for the developing babies, and it's also really important for vegans to supplement with cholene since the foods that are highest sources of calling tend to be animal products.

It showed that, in the most recent period of time, the efficacy of the vaccine actually turned negative (in terms of hospitalizations). Meaning: if 2 people contracted COVID, and one of them was vaccinated, while the other was unvaccinated—the vaccinated individual would be more at risk of being hospitalized. Eight percent more at risk to be exact. Furthermore, the data showed that the bivalent booster was able to alleviate this effect for a period of 3 months. However, after 3 months, the boosted individuals returned to negative 8 percent efficacy (when compared to the unvaccinated cohort).
